Mounting a Directional Stamp

 Mounting a Directional Stamp

Crush has a some tips for mounting a directional stamp. Sometimes stamps have a feature or portion of the image that is considered directional. In the instance of this single stamp, Bloom for You, page 78, Item# 134345 $10.00  of the Main catalog there are two areas that make it directional. One area is the petals which are unique, and one is the three dots in the center of flower.

It is important to know which way to stamp the image so lining it up with the matching punch (Fun Flower page 167 Item #133785 $18.00) is made easy.

Adhering the sticker in the correct orientation can be challenging. When you order this particular stamp you get the rubber, wood block and sticker.

Steps for Mounting:

1.Lay the rubber on top of the sticker next to your wood block.
Line the stamp up on top of the sticker image in the same orientation. You may need to peek from the side but you should see the petals lining up and also be able to match up the three center dots.

2. Remove the sticker backing from the stamp. Leave the rubber on the image while peeling it off-remember you just got it lined up!

3. Pick up the block and lay it on top of the rubber image, making sure to center the block as best you can. Leaving it on your work surface is really the best way to make sure the orientation does not change.

4. Move the block with the adhered rubber back to its original position next to the sticker.

5. Peel up the sticker and move it over to the wood block, without removing it from our work surface.

6. Ink your image and stamp! It should be in the same orientation as the sticker!

7. To ensure you know which direction to hold the block while stamping, mark the bottom of the block with ink. Make sure to check positioning first. Remember, you will be holding your punch upside down for alignment. Look at the petal in the three o'clock position, it has a dip on the down side, and when the punch is upside down, these match up. Mark your block once you are sure :)

This really is a fun single stamp to use. It has many layers you can create with just the one image.

And once you have it mounted correctly, Crush says it such a breeze to stamp, you can even do it upside down!
